Reorganization Creates New Procurement Services Department - 09/2/10
Senior Vice President of Business Services Jim Almond informed Purchasing and Accounts Payable staff Wednesday afternoon that a reorganization plan will be executed over the next month calling for a merger of the two departments. The new organization will be named Procurement Services.
While the search for the director of Procurement Services is underway, Lucia Anderson, director of business managers; Larry Pherson, director of Purchasing Services; and Mary Catherine Gaisbauer, comptroller, will provide leadership.
Four managers will report to the director of Procurement Services. They are Denny Feldman for Strategic Sourcing, Doug Sabel for Purchasing Operations, Carolyn Conner for Business Processes and Gayle Stetler for Accounts Payable.
The management team will work with staff to align them into the positions called for by the new organizational structure. In the interim, staff will continue to support University operations as they do currently.
Overall, the University and staff should be proud of the current processes and the quick wins taken to this point related to strategic sourcing.
The merger is a recommendation of the Huron Consulting Group, which has made several recommendations for several short-, intermediate- and long-term process changes.
Questions may be directed to Mary Catherine Gaisbauer, 494-7539; Lucia Anderson, 494-9452; or Larry Pherson, 494-0226.
