PMO Adds New Projects to Priority List - 09/2/10

The Project Management Office (PMO) added four requests for service to the Business Systems Projects in Progress list in August. The newly added projects are Create Scripts for Regressing Testing Using Mercury, Correct Function of Open Purchase Order Summary Report, Implement Error in Process Troubleshooting Tool, and Shopping Cart Name Modification.

The PMO also added to the list two other projects, Travel and Archiving, which are five-year plan items. Work will begin in January and July 2011 respectively. The projects were added at this time because the priority list is a rolling one-year timeline.

Details of the four new current projects include:

1. Create Scripts for Regressing Testing Using Mercury

    -- Description of project: The request is to develop automated testing of SAP functionality via the 236 Mercury program. The testing scripts will be used by the Finance, Supply Chain and Human Resources/Payroll teams in regression testing.

2. Correct Function of Open Purchase Order Summary Report

    -- Description of project: Correct account management t-code ZFIR_SRM_OPEN_PO_SUM so it will  return  data  as  requested  via  the  desired  input  criteria.

3. Implement Error in Process Troubleshooting Tool

    -- Description of project: Create a tool to alert requisitioners of potential errors as they create or process purchase orders. Purchasing Services staff also will use the tool when they change or update PO’s based on the Form 26 process.

4. Shopping Cart Name Modification

    -- Description of project: Add shopping cart name field and number to the initial screen of approvers’ inbox in addition to what currently is displayed (Description, Received On, and Action). This will enable approvers to identify specific carts without opening.

The Project Management Office is composed of representatives of most central support areas for business systems. Details about the project prioritization process are available in the Request and Prioritization Process document posted to the Business Systems Advisory Committee website. A new prioritized project list is posted to the BSAC site monthly. The latest priority list is dated Aug. 10 and lists 48 projects.
