Business @ Purdue News to Expand to Twice Weekly Updates - 09/11/08

Business @ Purdue News, the e-newsletter and Web site that launched Aug. 7 to enhance the ability of business staff on all four campuses to keep current about developments that affect their work, is poised to increase its distribution frequency. Beginning Sept. 16, the e-newsletter will add a Tuesday mailing to its schedule. Previously, the mailing and Web site update occurred on Thursdays only.

Business @ Purdue News has streamlined the way Business Services employees communicate. The new Web site and e-newsletter were created to reduce the large amount of email flowing between Business Services employees as they adapted to a new way of performing their work due to the implementation of SAP.

Reaction to the new communication medium has been positive, said Vice President for Business Services and Assistant Treasurer Jim Almond. Employees have been receptive to the convenience of finding the information they need in a central location, where it will remain accessible for as long as it is current.

The expanded distribution is just the next step in what Almond said will be a tool that will continue to evolve as new ways to meet employees’ needs are identified.

Approximately 1,000 staff members on Purdue University campuses at West Lafayette, Calumet, Fort Wayne and North Central receive the Business @ Purdue News e-newsletter. Almond underscored the importance for Business Services staff to open their Business @ Purdue News-generated e-newsletters as soon as possible and thoroughly read the articles that affect their responsibilities. Doing so will maximize the effectiveness of the communication process and help them avoid overlooking new information that may prove central to their area of expertise, he said.
