Re: Revisions to Executive Memorandum No. B-17, dated 17 February 1975 -- Summary of Policies and Regulations Relating to Faculty, Administrative, and Professional Staff Vacations

At its meeting on 9 November 1979, the Board of Trustees approved the following changes to vacation granted to fiscal-year administrative and professional staff, to become effective on 1 January 1980. The following sections of Executive Memorandum No. B-17 are changed to read:

  1. Fiscal-Year Staff

    1. Fiscal-year staff classified as administrative or professional are granted vacation as follows:

      1. No change.

      2. Staff members classified as administrative and supervisory and professional assistant are granted a vacation allowance of fifteen (15) working days during the first year of service; and twenty-two (22) working days during the second year of service, and thereafter.

      3. Staff members classified as operations assistant or technical assistant are granted a vacation allowance of twelve (12) working days during the first three years of continuous service; fifteen (15) working days during the fourth and fifth years of continuous service; and twenty-two (22) working days during the sixth year of continuous service, and thereafter.

All other provisions of Executive Memorandum No. B-17 remain unchanged. It is anticipated that Executive Memorandum No. B- 17 will be revised in its entirety in the near future.

The purpose of these changes is twofold: (1) to help retain our more experienced staff; and (2) to help attract prospective employees to the University.

At this time I would again emphasize that vacation should not be taken before completion of three (3) months' service. Each department head is responsible for seeing that this provision is enforced.

Questions concerning these changes should be directed to the Budget Office on the West Lafayette Campus and to the Chief Business Officer at the Regional Campuses.
