Purdue University Executive Memoranda Master Listing
PURDUE UNIVERSITY
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
SUPPLEMENT TO EXECUTIVE MEMORANDUM No. B-58
April 21, 1983
Re: University Mandatory Retirement Program -- Supplement to Executive Memorandum No. B-58
Executive Memorandum No. B-58 sets forth the policies of the University's Mandatory Retirement Program. However, Section l(b) does not specifically define which positions will be covered. Therefore, the purpose of this Supplemental Memorandum is to define those full-time positions included under Section l(b). To the extent consistent with the requirements of the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Section 12(c)(1), the following positions will normally be deemed to be included:
- President
- Executive Vice Presidents
- Vice Presidents
- Chancellors of Regional Campuses
- Deans of Academic Schools
- Directors of AES, CES, Library and Intercollegiate Athletics
Many of the University's officials listed above have tenure in an academic department. Where this is the case, the mandatory retirement at 65 applies to their administrative position only, and not to their faculty status.
John W. Hicks
Acting President
