Central Shops: Roofing

The Roofing Shop responsibilities include the maintenance, inspection, and repairs of slate, tile, tin, gravel, asphalt, single ply systems, and liquid applied systems for all West Lafayette campus buildings and regional campuses. Included with these duties are maintaining gutters, downspouts, and assisting with fabrication of sheet metal sections or fittings.

The total amount of roofing surfaces maintained is 9,216,268 square feet. The West Lafayette campus accounts for over eight million square feet of roofing surfaces with another 500,000 square feet at the Calumet, and North Central campuses.

The Roofing Shop consists of one supervisor who also supervises the paint shop, the mason shop, and the sign center, one crew chief, four roofers, and one survey technician. The roofers perform preventative maintenance using the Maximo preventative maintenance system. The survey technician performs nuclear roof moisture surveys and assists with drafting roof plans.
