The Lock Shop maintains the locks, closers, hardware and cylinders of approximately 25,000 interior and exterior doors on the West Lafayette and performs the installation of all door hardware in new academic buildings.

Approximately 7,000 key requests for buildings and departments pass through the lock shop each year. The installation of aluminum exterior doors and enclosures on campus as well as the resetting of safes are a responsibility of the Lock shop.

The Lock shop also assists in the installation and maintenance of all electronic entry hardware for the residence halls. The locksmiths also do the majority of repairs on file cabinets, desk locks, and working with departments and contractors for keying their facilities.

The lock shop is comprised of one supervisor who also supervises the carpentry shop, one crew chief, and five locksmiths
