The Physical Facilities Central Shops are made up of 19 different skilled trade areas. The department is staffed with over 150 hourly employees, many who have achieved Journeyman or certified status in their respective crafts.

The Central Shops provide support to the Project Teams, academic departments, and zone maintenance. Work requests for Central Shops are collected and sent through the Work Control Center. The requests are then prioritized and assigned by the respective shops supervisor and/or crew chief.

Central Shops has traditionally provided not only efficient and timely service but the quality of work performed continues to be unsurpassed by any entity offering a similar product or service in the marketplace. Central Shops working in concert with the Project Teams and Zone Maintenance form a unique maintenance and construction workforce.
