Confidential Materials Destruction Program
Shredding services for confidential paper material
Purdue Recycling provides shredding services for confidential paper material. Purdue Recycling delivers and collects the 68 and 32 gallons secure containers on a request basis. An outside contractor shreds this material at their location.
These secure containers for confidential material can be requested by contacting Purdue
Recycling at (765) 494-0194 or (765) 496-3326 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
These are lockable containers and will be delivered locked unless the Department requests otherwise. For security reasons, keys for these containers will be restricted to the Purdue Recycling personnel.
When the container is ready to be picked up, please notify Purdue Recycling.
If a replacement container is needed, please mention this. Be sure to provide the following information when requesting a new container or when requesting a replacement:
- Contact person
- Telephone number
- Building name
- Room number (any other information pertaining to the location)
- Number and size of container(s) needed
These containers will be collected by the Purdue Recycling Crews and transported to the contractor’s location where the material will be shredded and recycled.
Cost for this service is $0.11 per pound. This cost covers the internal cost to deliver and collect the containers and the external cost to shred the material.
To arrange for this service please provide us with an account number or a work request. If you have a continuous need for the destruction service, you may choose to establish a service agreement. If you choose to set up a service agreement, call the work request center at 494-9999.
Any non-permanent paper record that contains confidential information will be acceptable. In an effort to recycle this material once it has been shredded, please ensure that you follow the same guidelines for Office Paper Recycling. This includes removing any of the following items: large metal binder clips, plastic items or transparencies (paper clips and staples are okay). Microfiche or any other non-paper media can be handled through this service provided these are kept separate from the paper material.
