WELCOME
The Indiana Association of Physical Plant Administrators began when a small group of Physical Plant staff from Purdue and IU gathered in a forest preserve outside of Bloomington for an informal discussion on the issues of the day. That gathering provided the foundation for the present day organization which encompasses institutions of higher education from all over the state of Indiana. Although the issues we all face have multiplied since that first day, many of the challenges we face have not changed much over the years.
Our theme for this year's conference, “Back to Basics,” reflects the fundamental issues many of us are facing on a daily basis, issues like effective use of energy, training, contracting and campus safety. More and more, higher education administrators are among those pushing us to use sustainable strategies to operate our facilities. Students concerned about the environment are providing an impetus to get our schools to adopt green practices as well as providing a safe and secure environment for them to pursue their education. There will be ample time during the conference to network and exchange experiences with your peers and colleagues. Please join us for informative sessions, lively discussion and an enjoyable two days as we get back to basics.
