INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON BREAST CANCER PREVENTION:

NUTRITION, COMMUNICATION AND PUBLIC POLICY

Co-Chairs: Sophie A. Lelièvre and Connie M. Weaver

October 18 and 19, 2010

Purdue University, West Lafayette IN, USA

The international breast cancer and nutrition (IBCN) group is organizing a multidisciplinary symposium on approaches to breast cancer prevention that focus on nutrition, communication and public policy. This initiative recognizes that different countries have unique perspectives which would benefit a sustained international effort to prevent breast cancer, and that the education of trainees in cross-disciplinary and international collaboration is an essential component in addressing global public health-related issues. The goal of this symposium is to bring together global public health actors and advocates, and researchers on breast cancer prevention and nutrition to provide a platform for discussion among scientists, clinicians and other professionals in the biology, epidemiology, medicine, nutrition, communication, education and public policy fields.

The symposium will include four plenary sessions with four to six oral presentations per session:
1) Breast cancer prevention and communication;
2) Breast cancer prevention and public policy;
3) Nutrition, populations & breast cancer;
4) Nutrition research and breast cancer.
The IBCN poster session is a central part of the 2010 symposium. The session will provide researchers with a rare opportunity to share their work with a diverse group of scholars working in the area of breast cancer prevention. In the spirit of fostering relationships and building an active breast cancer prevention community, the IBCN leadership encourages both junior and senior researchers to submit poster abstracts. Trainees (graduate students, post-docs) will also have the opportunity to compete for the Catherine Peachey Oral Presentation Award. A full buffet will be served in the same room as the poster session, creating an ideal setting for scholarly exchange. Check our program for detailed information.

Abstract submission is now closed.
