Purdue University Signature Logo

The Purdue University logo, also referred to as the Purdue University signature, is our identity mark. It represents the strong academic tradition that has been the force behind our University. The signature mark (or its respective academic lockup or co-brand) is to be used by ALL administrative and academic entities of the University. No secondary graphic elements or word marks should be used in lieu of the signature mark. At no time should any of the marks be modified, stretched or distorted. The font used in the signature logo cannot be directly used or mimicked on any communications outside of the approved signature logo configuration. Also, no element of the logo can be “sliced and diced” to create a new identity mark. The marks cannot be used in any other color combinations other than those specifically called out below under Logo Color Variations and in the Purdue University Brand Guide PDF.

Logo Clear Space

The placement of surrounding elements (text, photos and other graphic elements) should respect the clear space guideline shown below. This also applies to the minimum distance from the edge of the page.

The Purdue Logo Tab

The logo tab was created to house the Purdue University logo in a way that is easy to apply on any tactic or layout, and that can be created consistently across nearly all marketing materials. The tab need not appear on every piece created for the University, but its use is encouraged for a suite of related pieces.

Lower Tab Lockup Configurations

The tab should keep proportions of the logo being 1.625 by 0.5 inches, on top of the main tab area. The main tab area should be 1 inch tall and 2.125 inches wide. The background color of the main tab area should be 10% black or 10% white. However, 10% black tint should be used on white backgrounds. Make only the main tab area white on backgrounds that are dark or photographic. Below the main tab area is a secondary box that is 0.125 inches tall and 2.125 inches wide. The background color of this secondary box should be 100% black.

Tab Positions (Upper and Lower Document)

When placing the tab at the top of a document, the tab should be flush with the top of the document. When placing the tab at the bottom of a document, the tab should be flush with the bottom of the document. Leave a small amount of space between the edge of the tab and the side of the document.

Upper Tab Lockup Configurations

A tab configuration consisting of the secondary box being placed above the main tab area.

Lower Tab Lockup Configurations

A tab configuration consisting of the secondary box being placed below the main tab area.
