Purdue invited to Heart of Dallas Bowl
Buckle up Boilermakers — it's bowl season. On January 1, the Purdue football team will travel to Dallas, Texas to battle Oklahoma State in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, hosted at legendary Cotton Bowl Stadium.
This invitation marks the first back-to-back bowl appearances for Purdue since 2006 and 2007. Last year, the Boilermakers defeated Western Michigan 37-32 in a wild, back-and-forth Little Caesars Bowl.
"We are thrilled to be heading to Texas," says Purdue athletics director Morgan Burke. "Purdue has a lot of alums in the Lone Star State, including more than 13,000 within 250 miles of the Metroplex — so my hunch is there will be a lot of gold and black at the Cotton Bowl."
The Boilermakers were 6-6 on the year, while Oklahoma State finished with a 7-5 record, tying for third place in the Big 12. In the only other meeting between the two teams, Purdue was victorious, knocking off the 24th-ranked Cowboys 33-20 in the 1997 Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
Tickets for the Heart of Dallas Bowl are priced at $75 and can be ordered through the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office anytime online or by phone (494-3194 or 800-49-SPORT) or in-person from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
