Susan Butler
Susan Butler, a graduate of the Krannert School of Management, was appointed to the Board of Trustees on July 28, 2006. One of America’s leading experts on women’s leadership development, she has written a book, Become the CEO of You, Inc.: A Pioneering Executive Shares Her Secrets for Career Success. Butler is the founder and CEO of the Susan Bulkeley Butler Institute for the Development of Women Leaders, an organization devoted to educating and mentoring women about improving their lives.
She was the managing partner for Accenture’s Office of the CEO and served on Accenture’s executive committee. Butler served on the national board of directors of the Girl Scouts of the USA, was appointed to the board of directors of Junior Achievement Worldwide, and is a member of the Committee of 200, the organization of the country’s preeminent women in business.
She is a recipient of the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award, the highest honor bestowed by an Indiana governor, and Upside magazine named her as one of the top 50 women in technology who have moved “beyond the glass ceiling cliché.”
In the Krannert School of Management, she has endowed the Susan Bulkeley Butler Chair in Operations Management, the Butler Chair in the Learning Development Center, and the Susan Bulkeley Butler Scholarship for outstanding women student leaders. She is a member of the Steering Committee for The Campaign for Purdue and past-chair of the President’s Council. She also serves on the board of directors of the Purdue Research Foundation, the Dean’s Advisory Council at Krannert, and the National Board of Advisors of the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. Butler received an honorary doctorate from Krannert in 1999, and was honored again in 2004 with its Business Leadership Award.
