| Aaron Kosinski |

Graduate Student Aaron Kosinski received his BS degree in 2004 from Michigan State University in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology/Biotechnology. After obtaining his undergraduate degree he moved into the work force landing a research technologist position at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the Biochemistry department. Here he performed basic research in the field of epigenetics. His interests then shifted and he decided to join the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department at St. Jude in order to engage in more applied research, in this case the discovery and development of drugs for orphan diseases like malaria. He worked in this department for two years and in that time was promoted to senior research technologist. Wanting to learn more and expand his horizons further, he decided to come to Purdue University’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering to pursue a doctoral degree in the Biomedical Sciences. Currently, he is in his first year of graduate school and is working to design and characterize biomimetic materials for potential use in drug delivery or regenerative medicine. In the future he hopes to pursue one of two career paths. The first consists of acquiring a position in the financial sector, for example in a venture capital firm, hedge fund, or investment bank, using his scientific background to guide investment in the areas of biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, and biomedical devices. The second consists of acquiring a position in an administrative role at a biomedical device, biotechnology, or biopharmaceutical firm, using his scientific background to help guide product development. |
