Chair

Greetings! Welcome! The Black Caucus of Faculty and Staff welcomes your visit and interest. Since 1975 we have endeavored to establish a strong and nurturing black cultural and social institution in the heart of the Purdue University community. Over 37 years the Caucus has presided over the concerns of black diversity and improvement.

We have accomplished much over the years; yet there is much for us to do to maintain and advance our collective interests as a Caucus and as the Purdue community. As a significant cultural and social institution we entrust ourselves with the joyful task of contributing to the communal home that strengthens and sustains, not only but especially, the diverse black community that finds itself at a numerical disadvantage in this powerful community committed to a meaningful inclusion of diversity. And, arising from this noble desire is the obligation to be the sensitive and sensible probe that watches over that commitment to diversity and inclusion; to rally and organize all positive strengths to further that intent to its limits.

It is in the wafts of such a dream that we invite you to walk and talk with us; to give your support and time to strengthen our socio-cultural organization and help us in spreading the joy of having a home that nurtures us in our community. The Black Caucus provides a space to do for self and community in a way that nurtures all of us. We hope to make the Black Caucus a fertile ground in which your ideas and efforts will find the support, connections, and resources to bear fruit in abundance to be shared by all. In this noble quest let us all, from physical plant and residences to academic auditorium and offices, come together as members and workers in this organization. Come and participate in our events, our social gatherings, and our general meetings. Your presence will always brighten our home. Feel free, also, to explore this site for more information about the Caucus and our activities.

You have a standing invitation to join us for meetings on the second Wednesday of each month and Fun Friday socials each month.

Let’s help the Caucus organize a great year for us all!
