Greetings! Welcome! The executive committee, members of the Black Caucus
of Faculty and Staff, and the current chair welcome your visit and interest. From Dr. Luther Williams (1975) to Dr. Zenephia E. Evans (2011) an exceptional line of chairs and executives have unwaveringly established and strengthened a nurturing black cultural and social institution in the heart of the Purdue University community. Over 36 years the Caucus has proudly presided over the concerns of black diversity and improvement and it is particularly in this light I honor and pay tribute to Dr. Zenephia Evans and the outgoing members of the executive committee. Your selfless and untiring efforts are noted in the homely feelings the Caucus generates. Thank you.
The accomplishment over the years is clear for all to see; yet there is much for us to do to maintain and advance our collective interests as a Caucus and as the Purdue community. As a significant cultural and social institution our new executive committee and the Caucus entrust ourselves with the joyful task of contributing to the communal home that strengthens and sustains, not only but especially, the diverse black community that finds itself at a numerical disadvantage in this powerful community committed to diversity. And, arising from this noble desire is the obligation to be the sensitive and sensible probe that watches over that commitment to diversity; to rally and organize all positive strengths to further that diversity to its limits.
It is in the wafts of such a dream that we invite you to walk and talk with us; to give your support and time to strengthen our socio-cultural organization and help us in spreading the joy of having a home that nurtures us in our community. In this noble quest let us all, from physical plant and residences to academic auditorium and offices, come together as members and workers in this organization. Come and participate in our events, our social gatherings, and our general meetings. Your presence will always brighten our home. Feel free, also, to explore this site for more information about the Caucus and our activities.
You have a standing invitation to join us for meetings on the second Wednesday of each month and Fun Friday socials each month.
Let’s help the Caucus organize a great year for us all!
