The Road to Brown: 1990. 1 Video Cassette

Tells the story of segregation and the brilliant legal campaign against it which launched the Civil Rights Movement. It is also a moving tribute to a visionary but little known Black lawyer, Charles Hamilton Houston (1896-1950), "the man who killed Jim Crow." Traces from the nightmare world of Jim Crow sanctioned by the 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson decision, through the precedent-setting cases Houston waged during the 1930's, to the final posthumous 1954 triumph of Brown v. Board of Education. Provides a concise history of how African Americans won full legal equality under the Constitution.
