At the BCC (immediately following the football game)
Visit Miss Bessie's Juke Joint! Meet the blues people that frequent there to release after a hard week of work. Enjoy blues music and learn the history that created it. The day includes performers, storytelling, children's activities, and a sampling of southern cuisine.

A musical tribute to legendary blues singers Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Lena Horne. Songs performed will include "St. Louis Bluesm""Summertime,""Got Bless the Child,"and many others. A real crows pleaser from seniors to youth!

Michael Eric Dyson – "African Americans in the Academy: Climate and Conflict"

Called a "street fighter in a suit and tie" and one of America's foremost public intellectuals, Dyson pulls no punches. He has written several national bestsellers on subjects ranging from Martin Luther King Jr. To gansta rap. With passion and rigor, Dyson takes on Bill Cosby's comments and the Hurricane Katrina Tragedy.
