Difficult Dialogue Series
Black Cultural Center 2:00pm
The BCC and American Studies Department will present a new
series titled “Difficult Dialogue” which focuses on Race. The series is
structured to provide graduate students and faculty the opportunity to present
their research to the general public to help build a bridge between the academy
and communities outside the university.

"Designed by Grace" - University of Southern Indiana
Gospel Choir
Fowler Hall, Stewart Center - 5:00pm
Designed Grace Choir performs a variety of music including
spirituals, hymns and contemporary gospel music. The choir is
committed to excellence and strives to contribute to the growth
of student participants. This program is part of a cultural
exchange with the Purdue Black Voices of Inspiration Choir.

Monday, February 18
"Pouring Tea: Black Gay Men of the South Tell Their
Tales"
Carole and Gordon Mallett Theatre, Yeu-Kong Pao Hall -
7:00pm
This one man show featuring E. Patrick Johnson is based on oral
histories from Black gay men. The performance covers the
following topics: Coming of age in the South; religion, sex,
transgenderism, love stories and coming out. The show tells of
Chaz, a transgendered person who lives as a man on Sunday so he
can sing in the church choir but lives as a woman during the
week; then there is Larry, whose early years of sexual
exploration are humorous and disturbing. Johnson embodies these
and other stories in the show.

"Women's Art, Women's Vision, Women's Dreams... A
Womanist Poetry Event!"
BCC Multipurpose Room - 7:00pm
A Project Respect Collaboration between the BCC and The Women’s
Resource Center. Come out and hear poets from the campus
community share poems which honor and express respect for
women’s talents, abilities, experiences, dreams, vision and art
beyond the boundaries of race, class and sexual orientation.

Friday, February 29-Saturday, March 1
"African American History Comes Alive!" - Tour to
Southern Indiana
Registration and full payment due by February 8th
Tour participants will learn about and experience African
American history of Southern Indiana through storytelling,
exhibits, hands-on demonstrations and historical documents. The
group will visit Lyles Station, one of the last African American
settlements in Indiana and the Evansville African American
Museum.
Cost: $100 General Public $35
Purdue Students
(Includes: Transportation, Lodging, Admission Fees and Lunch)
