Each year graduating Purdue band and orchestra members fan out across the world, changing their communities through vital jobs in countless industries and also through their involvement in local non-profit organizations. For many decades we have honored men and women who have spent decades building theirs career with the Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.

Since 2010, the Shooting Star Award has honored the accomplishments of alums who have been in the work world 10 years or less. Anyone is eligible to nominate an individual who has distinguished themselves in their jobs, or by the volunteer service and leadership they give to community organizations. Self-nomination is also encouraged. The Shooting Star Award is formally presented each spring at the Awards Banquet alongside the Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award and the Block P Award.
