There were no surprises at Purdue Bands’ 2011-2012 Solo Twirler tryouts held Saturday, Feb. 26. All the current twirlers were on hand plus three prospective twirlers.

The staff chose to stay with the winning combination of MerrieBeth Cox as Golden Girl, Meg Merdian as Girl in Black, Sara and Chellie Zou as Silver Twins and Rachael Bazzell as Miss Boilerette.

All of the women, except Cox, will graduate in 2012. Cox was recently chosen as Miss Purdue and will compete in the Miss Indiana contest in early summer. Rachael Bazzell who held the title of Miss Purdue last year will also be returning to the 2011 Miss Indiana pageant, so Purdue twirling will be well represented.
