Historical marching band
DVDs on sale
Want to relive your marching days, but without the rain or the stress of practicing the same routine over and over again? DVDs of seasons ranging from 1935 to 2008 are now available for purchase. For more than a year, the Purdue Department of Bands has been converting old 16mm films and VHS tapes of performances by the “All-American” Marching Band into DVD format so special shows and moments in Purdue marching band history can be revisited. The project was underwritten with a $2,000 grant from the Gamma Pi Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Psi service fraternity. Not all films and tapes could be recovered as some of the oldest ones had deteriorated beyond saving. A few years have not been located but efforts are continuing to find copies of them. As they are located, they will be converted to DVDs and offered for sale. Gamma Pi is coordinating sales of the DVDs to alumni and Purdue Band fans. The DVDs have formatted in a manner that allows you to purchase those eras in which you participated or have children/friends who participated in the Band. Money raised from the sale of these DVDs will be used by GPAA to further assist the Purdue Department of Bands with their various programs, trips, and equipment needs. Print out the attached order form to initiate your purchase. |
