Preview performance Aug. 22 for “All-American” Band

Thursday, August 13, 2009

The public’s first opportunity to see the 2009 “All-American” Marching Band comes on 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Hull Drill Field on Third Street across from Shreve Hall.

Golden Girl MerrieBeth Cox and Boilerette Twirling Team, both winners of major awards at the Twirling Nationals at Notre Dame University in July, will be featured in special numbers as will the Golduster Dancers and the Golden Silks Flag Corps.

Cox was awarded “Teenage Miss Majorette of America” and the “Personal Wow Award for Collegiate Solo Twirlers” among others at the competition.

For Saturday’s performance, the entire 340 member band, directed by Jay Gephart, will show off the music and marching skills polished at band camp. They will also talk about the exciting changes being made to the Stadium pre-game show this year. The National Anthem has been moved to the end of the show so members of both football teams can be on the field when it is performed.

Admission is free to the informal, hour-long performance.
