Marching Band

(Openings for Piccolo, Clarinet, Alto and Tenor Saxophone, Trumpet, Mellophone, Baritone, Trombone, Sousaphone, Snare Drum, Multi-Tenor, Bass Drum, Cymbals, Baton Twirlers, Dancers and Color Guard)

Music Auditions

• Individual auditions can be scheduled by contacting Pat Newton:  phone: 765 494-0770 or email:panewton@purdue.edu
• If you are not able to travel to campus before band camp, your music audition will take place that week.   First year members will audition Sunday evening, August 16;  returning members will audition Tuesday afternoon, August 18.

Required audition music is available at purdue.edu/bands/audition. The files are password protected. User name and password can be obtained by contacting the band department at (765) 494-0770 or by emailing the webmaster jhwilkin@purdue.edu

Marching Auditions

The entire week of band camp is part of the marching audition process. This year's band camp begins on August 16, 2009. All students auditioning for marching band are required to attend band camp.

Drumline

• Music and marching auditions are held during band camp week, beginning Sunday, Aug. 16. Information packets including audition music and registrations materials will be mailed in early summer.

Auditions for the 2009-2010 season are complete.  For information regarding twirler and Golduster auditions for the 2010-2011 season, contact Alisha Kuckartz at alishak@purdue.edu.

(Openings for Piccolo, Flute, all Clarinets, all Double Reeds, all Saxophones, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba and Percussion)

 

Music Auditions

• If you are not able to travel to campus before BGR week or until classes begin, you may audition during the first week of classes in the fall. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted beginning August 17 on the glass case in the basement of Elliott Hall of Music.  Concert Band/Orchestra wind auditions will take place through August 28th.

Jazz Band and AMRE Auditions

(Openings for Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet and Rhythm Section (Drum Set, Percussion, Guitar, Piano and Bass) and a select number of vocalists)

Symphony Orchestra String Auditions

(Openings Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass)

Music Auditions

• If you are not able to travel to campus before BGR week or until classes begin, you may audition during the first week of classes in the fall. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted beginning August 17 on the glass case in the basement of Elliott Hall of Music.  String auditions will take place through Wednesday, August 26.

 

Audition Music String players select their own audition repertoire. The audition should consist of one prepared selection involving contrasting styles (2-3 minutes in length). This could be a solo, etude, or excerpts from orchestra music. Students will play alone without accompaniment. Please, prepare two three-octave scales of your choice (basses can play 2 octave scales). There will be brief sight-reading.
