March where no alums have marched before

Friday, October 17, 2008

Alumni! If you’re coming back to Purdue for Homecoming, plan to visit band rehearsal Friday afternoon, Oct. 24, or early Saturday morning, Oct. 25, to see the new all-weather drill field.

On Friday at the conclusion of rehearsal the new field will be dedicated and all alumni present will be asked to mix in with the band as they play “Hail Purdue” and march on the field. This is a day to celebrate, especially for all the alums who have ruined shoes or ankles in the mud and ruts that plagued the old grass field.

The Purdue Band and Orchestra Alumni Club will have a tent offering camaraderie along with free drinks and snacks from 3:30-5:30 at the drill field located across from Shreve Hall on Third St.

A big thanks to Bob and Trudy Hull, also Bob and Kathy Kowalski, for making the new field possible.

Rehearsal on Saturday morning will be 8:45 a.m. at the drill field. The 2008 AAMB will perform at 10:45 a.m. on Engineering Mall and march to the stadium with President France Córdova. There are confirmed rumors Córdova’s taking twirling lessons from our staff for the occasion. Bands will also have a tent in front of Hovde so be sure to stop by there as well!
