AAMB departs for China on May 26Saturday, May 31, 2008 ![]() Before the sun comes up on Monday, May 26, the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band will take off for its first trip to China.
The departure follows a full weekend of activities at the Indianapolis 500 where the band will participate in the 500 Festival Parade on May 24 and perform for the opening ceremonies of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25. This year marks the 89th anniversary of Purdue’s involvement with the 500 but China, not racing, is likely to be foremost on most students’ minds.
Following their return to campus on May 25, the band will have an intense evening rehearsal in Mollenkopf, the football team’s indoor practice facility, to polish their performance. If you’d like to know what the band is doing day by day while they’re gone, here’s our China Itinerary. Look for pictures on our web site after their return!
