Bill Kisinger named Arts Educator of the Year
Bill Kisinger has been named Arts Educator of the Year by Arts Alliance Indiana. The retiring band director was honored at ceremonies at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis on Feb. 13 recognizing the 2006 Indiana Community Arts Leadership Awards. Picked from nominees from all over Indiana , Kisinger is not only being recognized for his contributions to Purdue during his 37 years here but to the community as well. He has made significant contributions to many groups, including 4-H, Future Farmers of America, Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and the Lafayette Citizen's Band. In 1985, he conceived and promoted development of Indiana State Finals high school concert band, orchestra and choir contests.
Two events are being planned to honor Bill Kisinger at the close of the spring semester. An all-campus reception is being planned for 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in Room 30 of Elliott Hall. A formal retirement banquet is tentatively planned for Tuesday, May 16. Location and details to be announced; keep checking the web site for updates. |
