Purdue twirlers offer baton clinic

As part of the 2004 Golden Girl Golden Anniversary Celebration, Purdue’s Twirling Line, Silver Twins, Girl-in-Black & Golden Girl will teach a baton clinic for youngsters ages 4 and up from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 at the Morton Center in West Lafayette.

The focus will be on basic twirling skills and participants will have the opportunity to perform at the Purdue Women’s Basketball game half time show on Sunday, Dec. 12.  An optional extra practice session for those wishing to participate in halftime is set for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Dec. 11. 

The fee for the clinic is $5. For registration information call 765-775-5120. Children should bring batons to the clinic or purchase one at the clinic prior to the beginning of the clinic.  Please indicate when registering if you would like to purchase a baton at the clinic for $13.

All participants will get a free Golden Girl 50 th Anniversary poster and the chance to get autographs.

The Morton Center, located at 222 N. Chauncey St., WL, offers continuing baton lessons throughout the year with former Purdue twirler Veronica Johnson. She will also be one of the instructors for the Dec. 6 workshop.
