See you at Homecoming on October 27!
With the “All-American” Marching Band celebrating its 115th year, the Big Bass Drum celebrating its 80th birthday, and a great match-up with Northwestern on the gridiron, this promises to be a Homecoming to remember. This year, for the first time, there’ll also be an Electric Light Homecoming Parade winding its way through campus on Friday, Oct. 26. Start time is 7:30 p.m. and you can count on the AAMB to be there with lights on!
Here are the rest of the details for Homecoming. Equipment sign-out will begin at 3-5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in preparations for a music rehearsal at Mackey Arena that will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. The rehearsal will run until 7 p.m. For those who are unable to join us on Friday, registration materials will be available at the Elliott Hall of Music before Saturday morning's rehearsal.
The location for the Homecoming Reception, which runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m., has been changed. It will now be held at Judi's Catering at 101 Plaza Lane, Lafayette. It is easily accessed by taking South River Road and the new 231 Bypass to the South side of Lafayette. Judi's is located off Indiana 43. If you need further directions, ask when you arrive on campus. This reception required pre-registration and is now closed.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, rehearsal at the drill field will start early because kickoff’s at 11:10 a.m. Be on the field, ready to rehearse by 7:30 a.m. Empty spots in the block will be filled in immediately at 7:30 a.m., so you may lose your marching spot if you’re late. The normal game day flow of rehearsal, march to Slayter, pre-game concert (9:15 a.m.), lunch /breakfast during AAMB pregame show, then march to the stadium and halftime show will be followed.
