Home: Hartland, WI
Married name: Ann Grevenkamp
Husband's name: David Grevenkamp
Current occupation: Industrial Hygienist for the United States Department of Labor- Occupational Safety and Health Administration
Past jobs/life situations that have contributed to the richness of my life: I worked for three months for the United Way of Waukesha County after I graduated in 2000. It opened my eyes to just how much people benefit from the kindness and compassion of others.
Hobbies/passions that I enjoy: Yoga and Pilates classes, teaching baton classes and judging competitions. My husband and I also run a youth group organization and enjoy watching our kids grow and succeed.
Still involved in twirling? Yes, I am a registered judge and teacher with the National Baton Twirling Association and currently am actively judging competitions and teaching group lessons
What made/makes the Golden Girl position so special: The position really gave me an opportunity to let my talent be seen every week and during every appearance. I particularly enjoyed all the people I was able to meet and the great friendships I made while at Purdue.
How being Golden Girl has shaped/impacted my life beyond Purdue: The Golden Girl position was not only a prestigious honor but helped prepare me for my life after Purdue and after twirling in college. The many public appearances and speaking opportunities made me very comfortable speaking with anyone and answering any question in a well versed manner. My career takes me to many places and gives me the opportunity to talk to all working people at every level of the spectrum.
Favorite memories from being Golden Girl: One of the best memories I have was my first game when we played Notre Dame at Notre Dame and the band performed. It was my first game as Golden Girl and I had competed at the University of Notre Dame every year since I was 5 for our National Competition. I had never been in the stadium before, and there I was, performing with the band. It was rainy and our team lost, but it was still an incredible moment.
Some of my other favorite moments were the three bowl games I was able to perform for; especially the Outback Bowl where my whole family was able to come and enjoy the nice weather, the game, and the band with me!!!
