Jazz Bands

Three of Purdue's four jazz bands cover a wide performing spectrum from the earliest jazz classics to the most cutting edge tunes. The fourth, American Music Repertory Ensemble, consists of four to five solo singers backed by a full jazz ensemble and features music from big bands of the 20th century.

Wind Ensemble

Made up of the finest instrumentalists on campus, the Wind Ensemble is a year-round ensemble. In 2006 it made its debut at New York City's famed Carnegie Hall.

Concert Band

Depending on the semester, Purdue offers several concert band options to accommodate players with varying music backgrounds.

Percussion

While percussionists complement every ensemble in the department, Winter Drumline and Percussion Ensembles that meet in the spring give percussionists a special spotlight for their talents.

"All-American" Marching Band

Winner of the 1995 Sudler Trophy for excellence in marching bands, the 340-member Purdue "All-American" Marching band performs at all home football games and other select events.

Dancers, Flags & Twirlers

Purdue's flashy auxiliary units include the Golduster Dance Team, the Golden Silks Color Guard and the "All-American" Twirling Team. Solo twirler positions - Golden Girl, Girl In Black and the Silver Twins - are rich in tradition.

Purdue Orchestras

Boasting more than 50 strings, these year-round ensembles enjoy an outstanding reputation in the community for providing family entertainment through its Halloween Pops concerts along with thoughtful interpretations of the classics.

Athletic Bands

Pep bands that support women's and men's basketball at Purdue, along with women's volleyball, are selected from students participating in Purdue ensembles.
