Salute the past, Capture the present, and Ignite the future
As we embark on the great undertaking that is the Mackey Arena Renovation Project, we want to share with you this opportunity to be a part of history. Mackey Arena has a rich tradition of being one of the top college basketball arenas in the Big Ten and across the country. After 40 years as home to the Purdue Boilermakers, Mackey Arena will be updated to better serve our student-athletes and the faithful fans who have helped the Boilermakers win over 80 percent of their home games. The project is designed to complement not only the basketball venue, but also benefit each of the university’s 500+ student-athletes. Improvements to the 40-year-old home of the Boilermakers will include arena premium seating, a new ticket office, additional concession and restroom facilities, and wider concourses for fans. It also provides an opportunity to expand the academic, athletic and training facilities to benefit the needs of all our student-athletes. The scheduled completion of the project is 2011-2012.
When the project is completed, Mackey Arena will be transformed into the new front door of Purdue Athletics. The landscape surrounding Mackey Arena will become beautiful plaza space, filled with sculptures, benches and green space. The Sally and Bob Weist Plaza, located on the north end of the new Mackey Arena expansion, will be the main entrance into the administrative and ticket offices as well as Mackey Arena itself. It will also display the Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame, commemorating the history and accomplishment of these fine student-athletes. The Sally and Bob Weist Plaza is a semicircular gathering place located in the heart of Purdue Athletics and will be the permanent home of your commemorative brick paver. With your contribution, the plaza will become a centerpiece landmark of Purdue Athletics – celebrating the deep and continuing tradition of the Boilermakers.
The Mackey Brick Campaign is designed to give you a unique opportunity to show your Boilermaker pride. Be recognized as a donor to the revitalized Mackey Arena by purchasing a brick inscribed with your name or the name of someone to honor or remember. Create a legacy with the timeless gift of a commemorative brick paver. Leave your mark with a commemorative paver as a gift for fellow JPC members, alumni, favorite professors, an individual that has made a difference in your life, and loved ones including children and grandchildren.
