The basic idea behind the National Letter of Intent is to
provide certainty in the recruiting process for you
as a student-athlete and for the school that's recruiting
you.
Here's what the National Letter of Intent program means for
you:
- The school that has recruited you agrees to give you
an athletics scholarship for one year.
- You agree to attend that school for one year.
- Other schools participating in the National Letter of
Intent program agree to stop trying to recruit you.

Letter of Intent Web site.
