Take a Look at How the Plan Was Developed

During the Fall term we conducted three Focus Sessions to hear the vision of the Purdue community for digital education. All of these sessions were built entirely around small groups discussions by participants; the results of these discussions were recorded by participants using ITaP’s HotSeat software. You can see the structure of those sessions below and access summaries of the input from participants by clicking on the provided links.

Focus Session 1: Support for Digital Education Teaching and Learning

In this session we considered support models to help faculty incorporate digital technologies and solutions across a continuum of needs, including access to instructional designers, training, online resources, as well as incentives and recognition. We also explored the development of digital learning communities, mentors and research.  In addition we considered how best to support students learning how to navigate digital learning environments and use key digital learning tools.

Focus Session 2: Quality, Effectiveness, and Affordability of Online Instruction

In this session we explored approaches to assessing the effectiveness and quality of instruction in digital learning environments. Participants discussed strategies to encourage and support the adoption of high-impact educational practices. Finally, we considered affordability issues, including student costs for additional materials or special services, as well as institutional costs for developing and sustaining digital instruction.

Focus Session 3: Broadening Access through Digital Education

In this session we explored how digital education can help to extend Purdue educational assets to learners beyond the campus.& We considered what audiences we may want to reach and what modes of digital learning might best serve those learners, including MOOCS, online degrees, and alternative credentials. We discussed how best to support professional development, lifelong learning, and unbundling strategies that serve the interests of a broader public and the university.
