CALC at GSASeven Faculty Associates and twelve gerontology graduate students from five disciplines are attending the 63rd annual scientific meeting of the Gerontological Society of America in New Orleans, Louisiana November 19-23. Purdue continues the tradition of having a strong presence at this conference, presenting a total of 22 papers and posters. Guided Autobiography at University PlacePeggy Favorite, Assistant Director of the Center on Aging and the Life Course (CALC), led a ten week writing workshop at University Place, a continuing care retirement community affiliated with Purdue University. The group wrote and shared individual essays on each of nine themes common to all. Some wrote to leave a legacy to their children and grandchildren, others found the themes helped them clarify important aspects of their lives and gain new perspectives. The course was a resounding success and there is substantial interest in continuing. For more information on Guided Autobiography and how you can participate, contact Peggy: favorite[at]purdue.edu.
