: Gerontology Program |
Interested in studying the process of aging? The focus of aging studies
at Purdue is the process of aging across the life course. The
Gerontology Program offers three options to post-baccalaureate students
who prepare for careers in academia, research, public policy, and
service provision to older adults.
The Dual-Title PhD in Gerontology and a number of disciplines
enhances disciplinary depth with interdisciplinary breadth in
gerontology. For a list of participating disciplines and more
information about creating a Dual-Title PhD plan of study, click here.
The Gerontology Minor is offered to all degree-seeking graduate
students, regardless of home department. Students take 15 credits in at
least three different departments to expand their knowledge of the aging
process and its ramifications. For more information about the minor and
the available courses, click here.
A Graduate Certificate in Gerontology is available for
practitioners working with an older adult population. Certificate
students complete 10 credit hours from a multidisciplinary list of
courses related to aging. For a list of approved courses and more

| The
Gerontology Program offers an interdisciplinary minor
in gerontology for graduate students. The program involves
many disciplines and permits students to tailor the focus
of their study to their particular needs. Emphasis is placed
on understanding the process of growing older from a life
course framework. The gerontology minor is an excellent
complement for students in any field of study related
to aging or health. |
