Anneliese Kay

Thank you for your dedication and service to PACADA.
You‘ve been an awesome Chair!

Dear PACADA Colleagues,

During the past two years, I have had the pleasure of serving as the Chair of the Purdue Academic Advising Association.  Although I was new to advising when I started, and it seemed a little daunting to take on this role, I am delighted that I did.  Being the Chair of PACADA has allowed me to meet several new colleagues, discover new insights, and improve the quality of my work as an academic advisor at Purdue University.  As I end my term, I am excited for what the future of PACADA holds for the members and Purdue University.

I believe PACADA will continue to be a driving force in the culture of academic advising at Purdue.  If you are looking for a great way to become more active in PACADA, additional professional development experience, networking with other advisors and student services professionals at Purdue, or just wanting to meet some really great people, I highly recommend getting involved in a standing committee or the Steering Committee.  There are so many opportunities to shape the organization.

As my term as the Chair of PACADA comes to a close, I wanted to take this chance to recognize the members of PACADA who have made it a truly memorable experience for me.  First and foremost, thank you to the wonderful Steering Committee I have had the pleasure to work with:  Cara Wetzel, Sherre Meyer, Linda Conner, Dennis Bowling, Drew Landgrebe, Betsy Thompson, Jaclyn Palm, Rex Fodrea, Dorothy Hughes, Nancy Kester, Brian Powell, Lori Barber, Gay Barnett, Jamie Walsh, and Jennifer Radecki.  Your invaluable patience, time, hard work, understanding, humor, and professionalism have made this a gratifying experience.  Also, my thanks go out to my colleagues in the Krannert School of Management for your encouragement and support.  I appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for your dedication and service to PACADA.
You‘ve been a fantastic Secretary!

Dear PACADA Colleagues,

I am writing this as my two year term as the Secretary of the Purdue Academic Advising Association comes to an end.  Unlike Anneliese, I have been advising for a few years and had served as Chair of the Campus Affairs Committee a few years ago, so I was not new to the Steering Committee.  However, this time around was much different—mainly because of all the new faces around the table.  Being Secretary allowed me to meet some new people as well as strengthen relationships with some old friends.  The discussions we had about the role of advising and how we can promote it at Purdue were truly enriching and have served as an inspiration.  I will truly miss these conversations as we continue to define and shape our role at the university.

Becoming involved in PACADA was one of the best things I did as a new advisor—I learned so much in the beginning about Purdue by being a part of the Campus Affairs Committee.  Then the Steering Committee helped me realize what a valuable profession advising is, and my professional life has grown leaps and bounds.  I encourage everyone to get involved at some level—go to a committee meeting to see what it’s like, attend an event, go to lunch with an advisor from a different area—the insights and knowledge you gain will be greater than you’d ever expect!

Thank you to the wonderful Steering Committee members I have had the pleasure to work with:  Anneliese Kay, Sherre Meyer, Linda Conner, Dennis Bowling, Drew Landgrebe, Betsy Thompson, Jaclyn Palm, Rex Fodrea, Dorothy Hughes, Nancy Kester, Brian Powell, Lori Barber, Gay Barnett, Jamie Walsh, and Jennifer Radecki.  Also, my thanks go out to my colleagues in USP as well as Science for their support.
