Letter from the Chair
As the current Chair of the Purdue Academic Advising Association Steering Committee, I would like to welcome you to PACADA. Our members come from a variety of disciplines across campus. Our membership is made up of academic advisors, faculty advisors, administrators, other student service professionals and even many retired members of the Purdue community. Our members are dedicated to the support and professional growth of academic advising and of our students.
The fall 2010 semester is well underway and the students are back in full force. The Purdue community is looking forward to the wonders of fall in West Lafayette. The cheering football fans, the Saturday morning ritual of Breakfast Club, and basketball is just around the corner. Don’t forget the many other exciting sports: volleyball, cross country, soccer and intramurals. Our campus is buzzing with activity. Student information and career fairs are happening all the time. The evenings are getting cooler, community festivals abound and the best part of all is that the road construction on campus is coming to an end for the season.
Networking and learning opportunities are also abundant in PACADA. Our members are presenting at local, regional and national conferences. Our annual retreat is now complete. The committees put in a great deal of work to overcome some unexpected obstacles to put on a great retreat for everyone. We all owe the member of the various committees a great big thank you – Thank you!
If you are not yet a member of PACADA, I strongly encourage you to talk with a current member or contact the steering committee. We have some exciting events planned that we would love to see you at. For those of you who are already members let me express my thanks. You are truly part of what makes Purdue special.
Chair, Steering Committee
