Only credits from Purdue University will count towards CODO

CODO requirements listed are for the 2017 catalog term; students following prior catalog terms should check with the department for prior CODO requirements.

Major/Program Interdisciplinary Science (IDSC)
Student must select a concentration in BIOL, CHEM, CS, EAPS, MATH, PHYS, or STAT
General Requirements Minimum Semesters: 1 Minimum Credits: 12 Minimum GPA: 2.0
Course Requirements
  • Acceptable calculus with grade "C" or better & acceptable science course with grade "C" or better. Please refer to the “What If” function on MyPurduePlan to determine if a course meets degree requirements.
Other Requirements
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • 2.0 GPA in any completed BIOL, CHM, CS, EAPS, MA, PHYS or STAT course that meets degree requirements.

Major/Program Science Education (SIED)
Students must select a concentration in BIED (Biology), CHED (Chemistry), ESSE (Earth/Space Science), or PHED (Physics)
General Requirements Minimum Semesters: 1 Minimum Credits: 12 Minimum GPA: 2.5
Course Requirements
  • Acceptable calculus with grade "C" or better & acceptable science course with grade "C" or better. Please refer to the “What If” function on MyPurduePlan determine if a course meets degree requirements.
Other Requirements
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • 2.0 GPA in any completed BIOL, CHM, CS, EAPS, MA, PHYS or STAT course that meets degree requirements.

  • MA 16010 or 16100 or 16500 with a grade of C or higher (note – the Biochemistry major requires MA 16100 or MA 16500)
  • BIOL 12100, 13100, or 11000 and/or acceptable Chemistry coursework with grade C or better.
Other Requirements
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • 2.0 GPA in any completed BIOL, CHM, CS, EAPS, MA, PHYS or STAT course that meets degree requirements.

Course Requirements
  • CS 18000 with a grade of B or higher
  • Grade of B or higher in a Calculus course approved to meet degree requirements
Other Requirements
  • Students will be admitted on a SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS. The department guarantees acceptance for students who earn an A- or higher in CS 18000, B or higher in a required calculus course and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • All courses considered for CODO must be taken for a letter grade on a Purdue campus.
  • For CODO purposes, only the first or second attempt of a required course will be considered.

  • Students will be admitted on a SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS. The department guarantees acceptance for students who earn an A- or higher in CS 18000, B or higher in a required calculus course and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • All courses considered for CODO must be taken for a letter grade on a Purdue campus.
  • For CODO purposes, only the first or second attempt of a required course will be considered.
Special Notes
  1. Data Science is an academic program in both the departments of Computer Science or Statistics. Students will receive advising support to determine which department will best fit their career goals once admitted to the program.
  2. Space availability in the program will be very limited during the 2017-18 academic year.

Major/Program Actuarial Science (ACSC)
General Requirements Minimum Semesters: 1 Minimum Credits: 12 Minimum GPA: 2.0
Course Requirements
  • MA 37300 with a grade of C or higher
  • Grade of C or higher in two-course Calculus sequence. Course options include: MA 16100/16200, MA 16500/16600, MA 26100, MA 27100 or equivalent
Other Requirements
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • If a student has established credit [AP, IB, etc.] for Calculus 1, 2, and 3 (or beyond), then they must have a C or better in the next math course in the Actuarial Science major AND a C or higher in MA 37300.
  • 2.5 GPA average in MA/STAT/MGMT/ECON courses that meet the “Major in Actuarial Science” block degree requirements.

Course Requirements Satisfy ONE of the following two options:
  • Have [an average 2.7 GPA AND at least two graded courses] in the approved calculus sequence (16100/16500, 16200/16600, 26100/27100).
OR
  • Have completed the three course calculus sequence (via some combination of graded courses, transfer credit, and credit by exam) AND have a B- or better in at least one required 300+ level major course AND a 2.0 average GPA in all required major courses beyond the three course calculus sequence.
Other Requirements
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
  • 2.0 GPA average in major courses that meet the major block in degree requirements.

Major/Program Secondary Mathematics Education (MAED)
General Requirements Minimum Semesters: 1 Minimum Credits: 12 Minimum GPA: 2.0
Course Requirements Satisfy ONE of the following two options:

Course Requirements
  • A grade of C or higher in MA 16100 (16500) OR MA 16200 (16600) OR MA 26100 OR in an equivalent course OR a B- or better in MA/STAT 41600
Other Requirements
  • Students on academic probation will not be considered.
