Transfer Credit

Before students take coursework at another university, they must obtain approval to transfer these credits by completing a Transfer Credit Evaluation Report: CTR Form 5 submitting it, signed by their advisor, to the Office of Admissions. The Credit Evaluation Office marks "Transfer Credit as It Will Appear on Your Purdue Record." The advising office of the student's school decides whether the coursework may be used to meet degree requirements. Students should have transcripts from other universities sent to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible after completing coursework.

Purdue participates in a statewide initiative to facilitate the transfer of college credit from one public Indiana college or university to another. This initiative, TransferIN.net, has established a library of courses that will transfer to any of the participating schools. Visit the Indiana Core Transfer Library Web site to determine whether coursework a student completed at another Indiana institution is within this library. If the student received a grade of "C" or higher in the class, the equivalent Purdue credit on this site. The transferability is guaranteed for coursework initiated after January 1, 2007. Coursework on this list that was initiated prior to January 1, 2007, will continue to be considered for transfer credit per Purdue’s guidelines for all other college transfer credit.

For students who take coursework on study abroad programs not sponsored by Purdue, credit evaluation is handled by the Office of International Students & Scholars .
