| CODO (Change of Degree Objective)
A CODO, or Change of Degree Objective, means to transfer from one curriculum to another within the University. A student who wishes to CODO must follow this procedure:
1. The student must discuss his or her plans with an academic advisor in the school or department to which he or she wishes to move. Each school has its own CODO requirements.
2. If the student meets the requirements, he or she must obtain a Change of Degree Objective form from the Office of the Registrar, Hovde Hall, Room 45 or they may be requested from SSINFO.
3. The student must complete the personal information and sign both copies of the CODO form, which must also be signed by an advisor from the school the student is leaving and from the school he or she is entering.
4. Either the student or the advisor in the school the student is entering must return one copy of the CODO form to the Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar must have the completed form before the student registers for the next session. In order for the form to include the most recent grades and coursework in progress, it must be processed during the same semester that the student requested it.
The advisor in the school to which the student transfers may delete courses and grades that do not meet requirements in the student's new curriculum. These deletions should be done on the academic record which accompanies the CODO request. Guidelines for deleting coursework vary among schools. Previously deleted courses may be reinstated if they are required for the current major.
The student's cumulative graduation index is recalculated when grades are posted for the next semester.
Any student who has been inactive for one semester may request a change of curriculum as part of his or her application for reentry. Reentry students are subject to the CODO standards established in each school.
Statistics on the number of students who have CODO'd to each school are available from the Office of the Registrar after grades have been posted for the session.
See University Regulations , Part 2, Section II, Academic Program , Items D and E for specific regulations that apply to students who CODO.
