| Day on Campus
Day on Campus, held each summer from mid-June to mid-July, is an orientation program sponsored by the schools in conjunction with the Office of Admissions. It allows admitted students to meet faculty and staff, take placement exams, register, establish a computer account, and get a student ID card. All domestic students should be encouraged to attend Day on Campus. Financial aid meetings, visits to residence halls and off-campus housing, and speech and hearing evaluations are also offered.
Student Access, Transition and Success Programs sends the first invitations to Day on Campus in early May. Several schools also prepare and mail their own Day on Campus materials with specific information on the day's events. Students are asked to choose a date to attend Day on Campus; most students need only one day to complete the orientation and registration process.
During Day on Campus, academic advisors help students select a course schedule, register for classes, choose which advanced credit examinations to take, interpret examination scores, add and drop classes, and resolve schedule conflicts. Advisors may need to e-mail or call schedule deputies to request name raises into closed or oversubscribed courses. Advisors should be aware of the dates of scheduling runs and fee assessments.
Students interested in switching to a different school must meet the admission requirements of the school/program they wish to enter. The Office of Admissions will have staff available beginning at 7:30 a.m. to handle these requests. Please give the student access to a phone to call Admissions at 4-1776 or 4-1286. They will review the student's application and make a decision as quickly as possible. If the change is granted, the student will be directed to come to Admissions (SCHL 109) to pick up the necessary documentation along with directions to the location for the opening session he/she needs to attend.
