Categories of Admission

Admitted students are divided into the following categories:

Beginners – students with no prior college coursework. Some beginners have earned college credit as non-degree-seeking students; these credits are listed on their Purdue transcripts if accepted by Purdue.

Transfers – students who have been enrolled in a degree-seeking program at another university. The student's Transfer Credit Evaluation Report lists credit accepted by Purdue University; however, academic advisors from the individual schools and programs determine which transfer credits are accepted for particular programs of study.

Regional campus transfers (RC-Trans) – students who have been enrolled in degree-seeking programs at Purdue Calumet, Purdue North Central, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, or the Statewide Technology sites.

Reentry – students who have chosen to "stop out" of the University for a semester or longer and are academically eligible to reenter.
