Nutrition science prepares students who wish to obtain greater depth in the physical and biological sciences. The program emphasizes basic science with more detailed study of nutrition and food science to prepare the student for advanced education. This is an excellent choice of major for pre-medicine students, given the importance of nutrition in healthcare. Students develop critical thinking ability and a broad perspective in nutrition, research, and health.

Nutrition science students have the opportunity to work with internationally known researchers. They learn proper research procedures and strategies.
