Making the BIG Decision
I chose Purdue because I knew that it had one of the best veterinary schools in the country. I also wanted to branch out on my own a little. Coming to Purdue gave me the opportunity to be more independent and to grow more as an individual.
How I Got Involved
- Black Voices of Inspiration — student coordinator
- New Directional Players
- Boiler Gold Ambassadors
Residence Hall Life
I lived in Earhart Hall my freshman year. Coming in as a freshman, I didn't know anyone. There was only one person I graduated with who was attending Purdue. At Earhart, I was able to meet many new people. When the new dining court opened in Earhart, I was in heaven. Earhart had some of the best food on campus.
Most Memorable Purdue Experience
In October 2004, the Black Cultural Center took students who were members of the performance ensembles on a research trip to Puerto Rico to study the Afro-Latin Diaspora. We learned more about Puerto Rico's culture, music, and food. Some of the places that we visited were Old San Juan, the town of Loíza, the El Yunque rainforest, and, of course, the beach.
What the Future Holds
I plan on attending veterinary school following graduation in May 2006. In the future I would like to own a small animal veterinary hospital. |
