| There are several ways students can establish
advanced college credit:
Purdue Advanced Credit Examinations
Students
can earn advanced credit on the basis of achievement
on Purdue departmental proficiency examinations.
Purdue's Advanced Credit Examinations are given
during the Day on Campus orientation program
and just before classes begin.
If you qualify,
you'll receive a mailing containing a description
of the subject matter to be covered in each
exam, test dates and locations, procedures to
follow in applying to take the tests, and general
instructions. Questions about advanced credit
should be directed to the Purdue college/school
you're interested in, or to your high school
counselor.
College Board Advanced Placement (AP)
Program
The College Board Advanced Placement Program
allows students to establish college credit from
results of tests taken at the completion of any
high school AP course. Check the AP
credit table to find out how much credit you can receive
based on the exam you take and your score.
College-Level
Examination Program (CLEP)
The College-Level Examination Program evaluates
nontraditional, college-level education such
as independent study, correspondence work, and
credit earned from nonaccredited institutions.
The CLEP chart identifies
the exams for which credit may be earned.
International
Baccalaureate Program
The International Baccalaureate Program allows
participating students to earn credit for most
higher-level subject exams and some standard-level
exams with a score of 5 or higher. The IB chart identifies
exams for which credit may be earned.
Courses for Concurrent High School and
College Credit
Students in college
credit courses taught concurrently for high
school and college credit during the regular
school day by high school teachers may be asked
to validate the credit through the College
Board Advanced Placement or Purdue Advanced
Credit Examinations.
Transfer
Credit
Transfer students can receive
credit for Purdue courses that are equivalent
to courses successfully completed at another
regionally accredited college or university.
Grades are not transferred, only credit.
