Department Name

The Department Name is the official complete department name as approved by the Board of Trustees. Examples include: Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and International Programs in Agriculture.

Department names are associated with a 4-digit department number. In the General Ledger Account Structure, a department name is only meaningful when the department number is used with funds:

010 - 816 or 840,
AND the department number is X030 -X899 (where X=location code).

Otherwise the department name is meaningless in funds not listed above.

The General Ledger contains both a long and short (abbreviated) department name.
