We spent the day touring Vancouver including Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Vancouver Aquarium.

On The Train from Vancouver to Kamloops

We boarded the Rocky Mountaineer train in Vancouver and spent the day on the train enjoying the scenery as we made our way into the mountians...

We got off the train in Kamloops and were taken by bus to our hotels for the night. Some of the group went to a dinner theatre performance before calling it a day.

Monday: 08/01/05
On the Train from Kamloop to Jasper

Today we continued east aboard the train, passing the striking mountain peaks of the Monashee Mountains and viewing the Pyramid Falls cascading down Mt. Cheadle. We also saw the glaciers of the Albreda Icefields and a view of Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Early in the evening we arrived in Jasper, the northern gateway to the Icefields Parkway.

Tuesday: 08/02/05
Jasper


We started the day with a trip to the extraordinary Maligne Canyon, home to scenic Maligne Lake. The shimmering waters are both gorgeous and peaceful. Many of us took the optional cruise along the lake to Spirit Island. Afterwards we return to Jasper where the remainder of the day was available to explore the town. Some of group used the afternoon to do some rafting!

Wednesday: 08/03/05

Today we traveld to Lake Louise. The highlight was a journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway to see majestic waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. We stopped at Athabasca Falls before arriving at the Columbia Icefields, where we rode a snocoach across the Athabasca glacier which is over 1,000 feet thick. We stopped at Peyto Lake then traveled on to Lake Louise, where we stayed at the world-famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Thursday: 08/04/05

After leaving Lake Louise to travel to Banff, we stopped to see Moraine Lake and along the way also viewed the awesome Valley of the Ten Peaks. We arrived at the magnificent Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and then ventured off to Sulphur Mountain for an incredible tram ride that offered magnificent views of Banff and the nearby Rockies.

Friday: 08/05/05

We started the day discovering Banff on our own. Later, we joined our group and traveled to lovely Bow Falls. Then we traveled to the cosmopolitan city of Calgary for our final stop on this wonderful adventure. Tonight, we had a special farewell dinner at a popular local restaurant.

Depart for Home

Today we departed from Calgary to return to Indiana.
