| About WBAA
WBAA-AM,
Indiana's longest continuously operating radio station, received
its broadcast license in 1922. WBAA-FM began broadcasting in 1993.
The two stations provide Purdue University students with opportunities
for hands-on training in radio broadcasting, including credit internships
for students majoring in communication and noncredit experience
for volunteer announcers, producers, and writers. WBAA-AM and FM
provide alternative public radio programming to thousands of mid-central
Indiana and east-central Illinois listeners.
Diverse
Programming
The radio format of WBAA-AM provides listeners with a diverse program
of news, information, public affairs, jazz, folk and other eclectic
music. The daytime broadcast radius of WBAA-AM is about 70 miles,
making it accessible to more than half the population of the state
almost 2.5 million people.
WBAA-FM
concentrates on classical music and fine arts programming. With
a broadcast radius of approximately 20 miles, including Tippecanoe
and most adjacent counties, WBAA-FM has the potential to reach more
than 150,000 listeners.
The
Local Angle
WBAA-AM produces and broadcasts original local programming including
Acoustic Blend, The Local Music Show, Rainbow, Gitanjali,
Inside Jazz with Don Seybold, and interviews with University faculty, staff,
and campus guests.

WBAA-AM
broadcasts 24 hours a day at 920 AM and 90.7 FM on the University
Residence Television Antenna System (URTAS). WBAA-FM broadcasts
24 hours a day at 101.3 FM and 100.7 FM on URTAS. WBAA-FM also provides
background for The Purdue Channel's teletext service seen on Insight
Communications Educational Access Channel 5 and Channel 15 of URTAS.

for WBAA is provided by Purdue University, The Corporation for Public
Broadcasting, listener donations, and business sponsors.
