Student Services Development

Our mission in Student Services is to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to create an environment that supports and enhances personal discovery, learning, and engagement. It impacts the life of every student at Purdue University. In partnership with all members of the campus community, we promote efforts to achieve educational equity and diversity. We strive to improve the recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of our students. We offer services including financial aid, career planning, recreational sports opportunities, a learning resource center, programs of physical and mental health care, assistance in removing both physical and psychological barriers to college, and leadership programs.

We believe students need to be active participants in the learning process and that the best learning takes place in situations where a balance of challenges and support exists. The developmentally based learning that occurs in the myriad activities and opportunities supported by Student Services is an important complement to the learning that occurs in the classroom. Opportunities for this guided learning abound at Purdue in the residence halls, 74 Greek chapters, 12 cooperative houses, more than 740 registered student organizations, volunteer programs, three ROTC units, bands and ensembles, vocal groups, the career center, Convocations, and the many other activities and programs that promote and recognize the philosophy of lifelong learning.

Purdue has many wonderful programs and traditions that have served the University well. Indeed, many of these programs and traditions must be nurtured so they will continue to serve us well in the future. As the University positions itself in the 21st century, The Campaign for Purdue will provide Student Services the necessary support to connect with more students and enhance the learning process.
